FAQs & Troubleshooting
Why Your Lace Glue Keeps Lifting (And How to Fix It)
If your lace keeps lifting, you're not alone — it's one of the most common frustrations in the wig community. But the fix is usually simpler than you think. Here are the 5 most common reasons and how to fix each one.
1. Oily or Dirty Skin
If your skin is oily or you've applied moisturiser near your hairline, the glue can't bond properly. Always clean your hairline thoroughly with alcohol or a prep solution before applying glue.
2. Skipping Skin Prep
Skipping a skin protector like On Guard means the glue sits directly on bare skin, which can cause it to break down faster. On Guard creates a barrier that actually helps the glue hold longer — it's not just about protection.
3. Applying Too Much Glue
This is counterintuitive, but more glue doesn't mean more hold. A thin, even layer that's allowed to get tacky will always outperform a thick, wet application. Thick layers don't dry evenly and create weak spots.
4. Not Letting the Glue Get Tacky
Pressing your lace into wet glue is one of the most common mistakes. Wait 30–60 seconds after applying for the glue to reach the tacky stage. It should feel sticky but not wet to the touch.
5. Not Using a Melting Spray
If you skip the melting step, your lace sits on top of the glue rather than bonding into it. Stay Laid Melting Spray fuses the lace and glue together for a secure, seamless finish that resists lifting.
The Fix: Use the Full System
Prep properly with On Guard. Apply a thin layer of Stay Stuck. Let it get tacky. Press your lace. Melt with Stay Laid. Follow these steps and your install will stay put — every time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can weather affect lifting?
Yes. Humidity and sweat can weaken some adhesives. Stay Stuck is formulated to resist humidity, but proper prep and melting are even more important in hot conditions.
Should I use more glue in humid weather?
No. Use the same thin layer, but make sure your skin is completely clean and dry before application, and always use On Guard for the best hold.
